A 42-year-old project coordinator in the construction industry from St. Gallen strained a ligament in her upper right ankle during a hike. She was diagnosed with severe ligament strain in hospital and was initially put on sick leave for 10 days.
The doctor contacted the patient early on the first working day after the accident. Through rapid consultation with the employer, tasks were prioritized and a home office with ergonomic adjustments was organized. The use of video conferencing was specifically supported in order to avoid travel.
The project coordinator was able to work again from week 2, albeit with an adjusted workload.
This story shows how proactive action and flexible workplace solutions can significantly reduce downtime after an accident and achieve positive results for everyone involved. It is an excellent example of successful reintegration after an accident.
