The cantonal DI offices offer comprehensive advice on the DI benefits available to employers. They provide advice even before an official application for benefits is submitted, especially if an employee's ability to work is at risk due to health problems.

The reWork profile can be used independently of any contact with the DI. If there are indications of a potentially long-term health impairment, employers can use the early detection notification to clarify whether registration with the DI is advisable.

Objective:

  • Employers receive general information about the role and services of the DI, about early detection reporting and about registering persons who are at risk due to health problems.

Advantages/benefits for employers:

  • Non-binding, unbureaucratic and free advice
  • Initial answers to general questions about dealing with absences at work

Early detection & advice: prevention instead of long-term absence

Objective:

  • Employers can contact the DI office at the first signs of incapacity to work on the part of their employees to check whether registration with the IV is appropriate.

Employees must be informed in advance about the early detection process.

Advantages/benefits for employers:

  • Free advice in the event of prolonged or repeated absences (short-term absences, long-term absences or recurring absences)
  • Initial individual assessment of the health and occupational situation by the DI office

Early intervention to keep people in work

Objective:

  • Early intervention measures allow quick and straightforward steps to be taken to keep people in work (e.g. workplace adjustments) or to discuss possible internal redeployment.

The following measures may be granted depending on the situation:

  • Use of aids in the workplace
  • Advice on workplace adjustments and internal redeployment
  • Targeted training
  • Utilising and training partial work capacity
  • Coaching for employers and employees

Integration and (re)training

Objective:

Building and promoting resources and skills

The following measures may be granted depending on the situation

  • Utilising and training partial work capacity
  • Targeted training (courses, retraining)
  • Compensation for additional expenses incurred in supporting the employee
  • Coaching for employers and employees

Objective:

Employers have the opportunity to fill vacant positions with suitable candidates who are referred by the DI offices or through partner organisations of the DI offices.

Various measures can be granted depending on the situation:

  • Job placement: Getting to know suitable employees
  • Work trial: Testing work capacity without financial risk.
  • Temporary employment: Temporary assignments without an employment relationship with a financial incentive
  • Induction allowance: Compensation for limited performance during the induction period
  • Compensation for contribution increases in connection with occupational pension provision and daily sickness benefit insurance
  • Follow-up support: After successful placement, the employer and employee can continue to receive support for a period of three years.
